Federal lawsuit demands Unemployment Insurance Agency reforms
May 13, 2015
The FOX 17 Problem Solvers continue to investigate the issues and sat down with attorney Tony Paris. He works for the Sugar Law Center in Detroit. The law firm and the United Auto Workers filed a federal lawsuit against the Unemployment Insurance Agency recently. Seven plaintiffs are being represented free-of-charge. At this point, Paris said it is not classified as a class action lawsuit. Paris said the lawsuit calls for reforms to the UIA, as well as refunds to the plaintiffs, and for closed cases to be reopened. The attorney said more actual people should be hired to investigate alleged fraud as opposed to the automated computer system.
